Ever wonder about the places to see Giant Pandas in China? Giant pandas, that are in captivity can weigh up to 330 pounds. A giant panda is smaller than a black bear and measures at 5 feet long. There are only around 2,000 giant bears that are alive in the wild. They are considered to be one of the world's most endangered species. Luckily, there are wildlife conversations that house giant pandas. These are some of the top places to see these amazing creatures in China.

 

Dujiangyan Panda Base

Located about 1 �½ from Chengdu, this conservation and research center was established in 2014. The volunteers at the center can hold pandas. This center sees a lot less visitors than other centers so you can actually get more time to be with the pandas then you could at other places. Overall there are about 20 pandas at the Dujiangyan Panda Base.

Wolong Panda Center

This panda center, located at the Wolong Nature Reserve around 75 miles from Chengdu, has been totally rebuilt. It's divided into two sections. The one section is used for breeding, scientific research and reintroducing some pandas into the wild. The other area focuses on captive breeding as well. The facility is rather large. The Panda hospital and laboratory alone take up around 10,000 square feet. There are 59 different enclosures for the pandas with each of them having an indoor and outdoor area. There also a foot path that's over 3 miles long. At the Wolong Panda Center there are about 30 pandas onsite. For visitors that really want to have a memorable experience with the pandas, there is a 4 day tour where they can hike to the habitat of the pandas and work with the staff to help take care of them.

Beijing Zoo

Located in Beijing, this is a very popular location to see giant pandas. The panda house is one of the most popular exhibits at the zoo. Because of this, it can be quite crowded, but is a great alternative for those that can't make it to other parts of China to see pandas. The Beijing Zoo is the country's largest zoo.

Ocean Park

Located in Hong Kong, the park has an ocean theme and a large amusement park. There are four giant pandas to view at the park. Until last year, upon her death at the age of 38, the world's oldest panda Jia Jia lived here. In addition to the pandas, there are many other animals to see here including marine fish, otters and alligators.
